Frequent trips through the car wash add up faster than most drivers realize, and a membership can flip the math entirely. Having a clear annual figure in front of you makes it far easier to judge whether a subscription pays for itself or simply adds a fixed cost.

Pay-per-visit cost is the number of washes a year (52 for weekly, 26 for every two weeks, 12 for monthly) times the price of the wash type: $10 basic, $18 premium or $35 detail. A membership costs its monthly fee times 12 ($25 a month for basic, $40 for unlimited), and the savings line is the pay-per-visit total minus the membership total, so a negative figure means the plan costs more than paying as you go.

Which package you usually choose changes the picture considerably, since a basic wash and a premium one sit at very different price points. Discounts and promotions can also shift your yearly total in ways the base rates don't capture, so it's worth checking what local washes currently offer. The biggest source of error is lowballing how often you really wash the car, which throws off the entire savings estimate.
