The arithmetic begins by subtracting the current date from your target date to get the total number of days. That figure is divided by 7 to count full weeks, then the month estimate comes from dividing the total days by an average of 30.4375 days per month, a value derived from 365.25 days per year split across 12 months, which folds leap years into the average.

Two things shape how you should read the output. The month figure is an approximation, since real months range from 28 to 31 days and the average cannot capture that exactly. Your device's time zone settings also nudge the days remaining when the target sits close to the present moment. As for leap years, you do not need to track them yourself: the calculator factors them in automatically.
